Due to global warming and climate change, the number of natural disasters has been increasing rapidly in recent years. In recent years, Ulaanbaatar city has experienced several major events, and quantitative and qualitative assessment of flood risk is needed to reduce this flood risk. There are a number of flood risk modeling methods such as iTree, SWMM, HEC-RAS, etc. The UFRM model is compatible with other InVest models and has the advantage of using relatively little input data. Therefore, using the INVEST-UFRM (Urban Flood Risk Mitigation) model, we have made a risk assessment and reduction method for the city of Ulaanbaatar. The model uses soil hydrology groups, land use, curve numbers,
and biophysical parameters. The intensity of precipitation was considered to be 24mm, 50mm, 70mm in 1 hour. As a result of the research work, a quantitative and qualitative assessment of flood risk in Ulaanbaatar city was given and recommendations for ways to reduce it were made. In order to reduce the risk of flooding, it is possible to spatially
determine flood dam structures in detail, and to use parameters such as run off retention and depth as a result of the model to correctly locate flood water storage tanks.
