Presented result of study water holding capacity (WHC) of soils of Kharaa river basin area north Mongolia, relationship with main soil characteristics. Also show the spatially distribution specifics of WHC of soils with constant layers of 0-10, 0-30, 0-50 cm. Soil WHC capacity depends of soil texture, density and organic matters. Highest WHC have Peat black soils with 40.1-63.1%. For the steppe soils WHC is varying: Chernozem 25.3-32%, Dark Kastanozem 17.8-25.7%, Kastanozem 12.5-20.9%. Lowest WHC have a Sandy soil with 8.318.9%. Due of human negative impact some agriculture area, like as Zagdal river south part of soils degraded becoming more sandy and WHC value is lowering.
